My LDV Tipper just failed its MOT (see photo)and looks like the end of the road for it even though the engine and box are brill the body work is poor and looking at the fail ticket looks pricey to get another year out of it. Got it now for sale on Gumtree as a failed MOT buy. Sad times as i loved that crappy truck.

Looking at other tippers they seem a lot of money, so was thinking of getting a panel van instead to chip into.

Do any of you guys actually use a panel van with a chipper??

Got about 3K to spend on a tipper alone but cant find anything any good for that money. My old LDV was a bargain at the time, but not so now :(

Just do not know what to do :confused1::confused1::confused1:

Can you not find an LDV with a blown engine and transplant your lump into that? (Then continue to save up for something decent)

The price of 3.5t trucks is silly at the moment. We payed £3k for an 02 single cab tranny with high sided ally box. I thought that was expensive til I saw what else was out there for ridiculous money.

Feel your pain

New brakes all round shouldn't be too expensive.

Take the tow electrics off (for test)

You could put it in for a 'daylight use' test (mask off all the lights at time of test)

Is the windscreen covered by insurance?

Door panel could possibly be sorted with a small patch welding over?

Tippers seem a lot of money?? Hmm, This van going to earn you your living, why not spend a bit more and get a decent tipper? Getting a panel van ain't the answer mate.

:thumbup1: even if he can't streatch much more there are plenty of half decent sub 100k miles tippers out there for around the £3k mark.

Not many round our way Eggs.

2 years ago there were loads but now you don't get much for £3k

Fair play you may have to travel to get a tidy'ish one. But they are out there.

This one looks tidy enough.
