Wonder if any one can help. A new customer rang me yesterday enquiring about the Swedish candles I have on my web site. Only problem is I am in Newcastle and he is in Harrogate!

He is interested in 4 candles a metre tall and needs them by October 5. If any one can provide them in the Harrogate area please PM me and I will pass you his details.

I know its a bit late now however Im 8 miles away from Harrogate. I have plenty of timber but never made a swedish candle before :confused1:

Its very easy and the result is quite entertaining. Just drill a 1 inch hole about 2 inches deep, then make three saw cuts trivial pursuit style (ok dairylea cheese) almost to the bottom of the log, stuff something flammble in the hole and light

Can you make them from dead standing elm without seasoning? Got an outdoor do coming up and it might be nice to have a few. We've got loads of DED around, many of which are lying against other trees and bone dry. Also, do you make the vertical cuts with a chainsaw or is that too wide?
