So you're in a forest.

You've an unlimited supply of cut wood which you need to dry out for firewood.

You've also got an unlimited supply of dried out brash and other waste wood fuel lying around.

What would you build to use the heat from the burnt waste stuff to dry the good stuff?

You can only use what equipment and materials you can find lying around (rocks are the only thing I suppose you'd already find there) or can scavenge for free elsewhere and can carry into the forest by hand.

In Sweden I saw a wooden house using a Masonary stove with the logs dried in the upstairs loft. The house had a grass sod roof for insulation. The ceiling was slatted to allow the heat to rise and there was far more beams than normal to hold the weight of the logs.

Then I'd wake up.

Well if its flights of fantasy...

Chip the brash in a big enough pile to have a coiled water pipe in it as you go and using the heat from the pile as it breaks down to heat a drying store. Then with some of your now dry logs you can make charcoal. Which means that....

Set up a gas producer to burn the volatile gases given off in a diesel generator, using the electricity to heat a timber built drying store.

So producing charcoal as a by-product, safely getting rid of the gases and warming a store to dry the logs ...
