I worked at a Stihl main dealer for over 2 years and we PDI'ed all machinery inc chainsaws before we handed them over to the customer.

I would run though with every customer oil, fuel, chain adjustment, basic service and safety.

The saw would be run and checked for chain brake, oiler and good running.

I would hope all dealers do this to make sure equipment is safe and to reduce comebacks and warranty clams.

That's why I am not in favour of machinery being sold on line because I like it passed to the customer ready to use.

This also supports local business so we all have somewhere to get things fixed / serviced and pick up parts to keep machinery working.

If we all buy online to save a few pounds then they will die out.

Same here Eddie, all machines are oiled, fuelled (with Aspen!) and test run. All controls and functions tested and carbs tuned if needed, and revs set.

Saws are taken round the back of the unit and cut a few rounds off some cord, just to make sure they work under load.

Then the customer comes to pick up the saw, see's that it has sawdust on and a few drips of chain oil, then grumbles that I am palming him off with a used saw:001_rolleyes:

Just cant win all the time!
