Hi there.

Trying to get into these mechanical friction devices. I have only ever climbed on a prussik and tried a hitch climber but could never really get on with it.

Just looking to get some advice and opinions on the devices such as the pros and cons etc.

I'm interested in the zigzag lockjack and siderjack.

Any help would be appreciated

I have tried all of the above and they all have their own merits, but out of all of them I have to say the zigzag is the only one you can go straight onto with no learning curve. It feels like a hitch from the get go.

I find Hitch Climber simple & effective, of course it relies on a Prussic, the Pulley just tends the Prussic & make it easier - so not quite understanding why you couldn't get on with the Hitch Climber Dec?

I love my hitch climber, but maybe if I had a zigzag it would be just more like a good friend. Thing is, with a lot of these mechanical ascenders , they cost more than I spend when I buy a car, which is often because I buy knackered old bangers. My views are not always the best to follow.......
