Has anyone converted a Nissan cabstar flatbed to a tipper or know of anyone that has? I'm having trouble finding a quality tipper with reasonable miles so looking into converting a flat because more are available to choose from. I'm pretty capable at doing the conversion but wondered if anyone has done it on here? Any tips and ideas and also things not to do?

Yer cheers guys for the replies, that body looks great but like I say I'm building it myself. That's the easy bit, I'm more wanting to know how easy is it to convert from a flatbed to tipper eg best ram style? Reinforcement etc

Hi i was in the same position as yourself about 4 years ago so bought a cabstar dropside on a 51 plate very clean and tidy only 32k on it got it a good price, and converted it in to a tipper it took me and a mate a day and a half to do its not a hard conversion and if it has a wooden floor it will have a metal frame underneath, best thing i did for a long time. dont know what part of the country your in but if you wanted to have a look at how its been done your welcome,

No issues so far have taken it off road quite abit. I have general euro van winter tyres all round which transform it. Also had heavy duty springs like found on the 4.5 t cabstar so it carries the weight better. Had 2 transits before I won t get another

I stuck bf MUDs on mine, didn't get stuck too often, just don't expect your client to to be best pleased when crossing their lawn in the wet, I was like a rooster tail!

Yer I've been looking for ages now and the condition of the tippers are rubbish, I like a fairly tidy vehicle because let's face it we spend most our lives in them. The flatbeds are not only cheaper but seem to be cleaner and have lower miles, it's a no brainer. I like having a project especially when I can save money doing it. Yer cheers for the offer I'm based near Rochdale where are you?
