unimog and chipper

iv been asked a few time recently for a day rate for the unimog and chipper but im not really sure what to charge iv got a u1250 and a farmi ch 260. has any body got any ideas what i should be charging. thanks verymuch

if you are running the chip in the back of the mog and shuttling it, then you are saving an operator and another tractor and trailer. so i would want 400 quid minimium plus diesel. if you are just chipping into a pile then about 30quid an hour plus fuel

bit of both really for some just me and the mog and then some for working as well, would i better off saying x amount plus feul or jst adding a bit on to cover it

i would go and price the work, day rate is nightmare sometimes depending on the customer. if it is for another tree team then how much work are they going to give you. if it is a one off then i would want plenty, if it was going to be a regular thing then that is diferent. remember mogs are expensive to fix so every time you put the key in it, it is costing you money. like any bit of kit really.

Do you need the work? Tell them to go get there own mog or leave jobs like that for those that have the right kit. You'll end up making someone else look good due to your investment and hard work, they'll rag the hell out of the mog compared to what you need it to do per day, ie they'll get it in for one day of a four day job and expect it to work flat out all day to catch up.

 

My old boss used to do it and we ended up with no mog for the day and a blunt chipper the next day.

Could the same go for self employed climbers who work for the less skilled???

IMO opinion Yes, and I have said so before. BUT if you need the work then take whats available!

 

Especially if a climber is going in with riggign gear etc to do work for companies that can't do that kind of thing. I've worked before for tree companies that don't have nay climbers and it is wrong. Sometime you take the money and other times say no.

my 660 0n the u 1700 is worth 350 a day,just chipping ,two ground saws and just fuel. thats a flat rate tho not alot of profit just a ball part figure to work with,there is always a gray area ,such as what your chipping and how far you have to travell etc. Hope this helps
