Seemingly creating a new brand of a common stable is just like using the phrase new and improved one to many times. This plan appears to be a marketing ploy and PR Stunt being pulled off by the Yorkshire based grocery store chain. Until free market forces come to bare on this pricing problem at all levels of production and consumption all bets are off.

Not all businesses are to big or small to fail. Some business only exist due to government intervention. Supporting local business is all well and good, however at the cost of the consumer paying more the lower price in the end will win out. As stated before by other members, if the general consuming public knew or even cared about all of the waste they maybe would have a different opinion, or maybe not?

The problems started when the MMB closed and the public stopped milk purchase from the doorsteps. Remember doing around 10 years ago a Larch thinning on a farm and at lunchtime the man came over talking about cheap milk from Poland so we said farms and estates should purchase local fencing instead of cheap foreign imports. Think some farms have gone into big machines and more loans which don't help with long term costs. I still remember doing milking in the old fashion methods but less overheads and less stress. In Derbyshire some are going into Ice Cream, Butter, Yogurt production to add value.
