Evening all, this prob not the right bit to post this but the machine pictured was for felling trees, it's called a Treehog, was given to my friend and colleague today and the only info he has on it is it was made by Lane&Whittaker, early 1950s, Sheffield works, Holyhead Rd, Wellington, Shropshire , 27" blade 3hp, 30" 5hp, nice little BSA engine and the blade can be turned 360', anyone seen one before or can shed more light on it? From what little I know of them they were a great tool for scrub clearing way way back in the days before the HSE nanny state came along and decided that common sense and a healthy respect for the kit you were operating wasn't quite sufficient to satisfy their risk assessment criteria. Never used one myself but know some from my fathers generation that did
