I've had my 540 for over 2 years, contract climbing 6 days a week and I'm still on my original rear AV spring so it just down to how you use them.

Which day do you take off?

The 540 is garbage IMO, fortunately the 201 is now sorted, its a little known fact that the later ones have a different pot and piston, this along with parts available in the upgrade kit, which are fitted as standard to the later saws, has made the 201 into a cracking saw, IMO.

We a basically back to where we were a few years back, stihl is the only genuine fit for purpose top handle. Husqy had their chance and blew it, stihl dropped the ball briefly, but have know got their ducks back in a row.

Agreed Husky missed a trick not getting it right first time but like Stihl they will sort it . Stihls problem was a lack of performance , now sorted and Husqvarnas problem is fragility soon to be sorted .

I'll not be trying a Husky top handle again, they had their chance and blew it.

My 201 is fantastic :thumbup1:

Sundays as it's when I go to church !

Best day for it.

I'm gonna give my 540 to someone clever to mod, so it doesn't continuously fall apart.

Whenever I ask anyone if they want to use my top handle I just get this awkward silence. It's become a running joke. I put on a brave face but inside I die a little each time they mock my tiny orange friend.

It's a shame you've had a bad experience with the 540.

How did that rear mount get broken ?

I've heard of guys getting saws pinched in a cut and trying to pull them out and bending the rear spring
