I am well aware that not all followers of Arbtalk are of the male species but I am also aware that almost 70% of men in the UK over 45 do not know anything about their Prostate or signs of Prostate Cancer and also the same number of men do not check themselves for Testicular Cancer ... So here is a basic awareness and links for further reading.

Prostate Cancer stats= Most common cause of cancer in men in the UK, in 2011 there were 41,736 new cases. Most common cause of cancer death in UK after lung cancer, in 2012 there were 10,837 deaths.

The Prostate= A small gland found in the pelvis of a man. The size of a Satsuma surrounds the Urethra (pee pipe). The prostate can naturally enlarge with age.

The cancer does not normally show any symptoms until the cancer has grown.

Some signs and symptoms= Increase frequency of urination, often at night. Urgency to urinate. Difficulty in starting to urinate, weak flow, straining or taking long time to urinate. Feeling like bladder not emptied fully.

Near Naked Man

Testicular Cancer stats= 2300 new cases of Testicular Cancer each year in UK. Accounts for 1% of male cancers in UK. More common for ages 15-49. One of the most treatable of cancers if caught EARLY!

Some signs and symptoms= Lump or swelling size of pea or larger found in testicle. They are mostly not cancerous but they should NEVER BE IGNORED! Visit GP straight away. Dull ache or pain in testicles or scrotum, may not be constant. A collection of fluid in scrotum. General feeling of fatigue

There's an auld guy lives in the hills near the village, a cantankerous Cork farmer/fisherman/jachtsman/former fencing champion etc. A character, in short...

Fixing his roof one day he told us the story of his prostate exam. I can't remember if his GP or some clinic did the exam, but whatever, it turned out he knew the guy from years past (small country).

So the doc is there performing the examination, and your man cranes his neck to make eye contact and says (with a heavy Cork accent) "Y'know doc...they say it's only a sin if you enjoy it !!"

Two people have now told me that have and enlarged prostate and the doctor told them to have more sex.

Now if this is true , and not a wind up ,it should be made common knowledge and not hush hush.

It stops that need to pee again when you have just been ,I know because I increased my activity and don't get it anymore.

The wife seems happier too :D
