My favourite tree is the Kowhai (Sophora).I have always loved them.I propogate them from seed and sell, donate or plant them out myself whenever I can,its a labour of love. That birds love the nectar is an added bonus.

Have you got a favourite tree?

Great shots Minty.

For me, nothing quite rocks my dingy like an old majestic Oak.

The fact that it interacts with so many different organisms, speaks to me of maximum harmonic optimisation.

You gotta love the dynamism of the Redwoods and Eucs, then the kaleidoscopic qualities of the Maples & Rosacea.

But Quercus robur wins hands done for me - nature at it's most imperialistic.

A village called Bafiloto, about halfway up the river Gambia.

Do they have the Jacaranda trees with those amazing purple flowers in your part of Brazil? I pruned some of those in Argentina and some massive Tipo's!

Same as Dr monkeyd all of the oaks for me i love them. then i would go for field maple.

I think the field maple is greatly under-rated, a mature veteran F Maple can be stunning. I say my favourites include the majesty of Oaks, the beauty of Metasequoia glyptostroboides, the simplicity and dappling of shade from a Silver Birch
