I'd guess this would be Gunii, but Chiltern Seeds list a number of species which they claim can be grown in the UK.

I've tried a few. The cold weather claims them all. I had nicolli up to 15ft tall. Its no more:thumbdown:

I remember seeing this website years ago when I was doing a bit of googling on eucs - in this trial they seemed to be fairly hardy, although it was in Kent so not exactly the Arctic Circle.

The growth rate of the E.nitens is little short of phenomenal and should be used as a reminder to any homeowner considering planting euc - nitens in particular obviously - in a small space.

Melbourne, been here 5 years. Hervey Bay would be a treat especially this time of year!

You get over to Fraser much? Im planning on roadtripping it up in Oct or November, will probably go from Rainbow Beach though

Hervey bay is blessed climate wise. Sadly its not the same economicly its a bit tought up here. I've just bought a small sail boat so I'll be sailing over to Fraser a bit more, its a great place you just need to be very vigilant of the dingos

Rainbow Beach is a very small place two or three pubs and a few shops not much else.
