This does raise an interesting point: do we sell pure hardwoods, mixed, or soft or hard seperately. I was thinking that to really set the standard that, who knows, may one day be widely accepted there should be a species list with woods of high density in one list and those of low density on another. so willow and pop would be in with the spruce and pine and yew could be in the high density list.

Call me thick but I don't get what exactly is being offerered or expected here. Will it just be a website where people order firewood and the nearest delivers them, or is someone planning on negotiation contracts with big supermarkets or petrol stations to supply them to a central hub?

I'm just negotiating a deal to process a lot of wood so I'm trying to get up to speed on the best way to do it, as about 500ton of it would go through a processor but the other stuff (a few hundred ton) I think is going to need ringing and splitting with a big splitter. Obviously it's a bit difficult getting the right advice without giving out to much information that I could compromise my position.

So might be interested depending on what the script is.

Surely you advertise softwood as "heat logs" and hardwoods as "slow burning". I am intrigued to hear more bout this venture, but as usual i didnt read the thread proper and havent P.M'd Steve. haha

good idea, but, not all hardwoods are slow burning, i've burnt pine and sycamore side by side and the pine lasted longer both the same size.

This is a good point. I was reading somewhere this week that a good firewood supplier will allways put some softwood logs in with the hardwoods for the customer th split for kindling and for getting the heat for the hardwoods. So i think we should sell a mixture of say two thirds hardwood to one third softwood this should supply a customer with all they need to start and keep a fire going with a good heat. What do you think?:001_smile:
