We will be building a 7" next when we finish our next project but it won't be varitrack, it's pointless for us as our machines are not narrow so nothing to be gained.

Varitrack is much more than width. The independent vertical movement of each track is about levelling too, which is essential for not only safe feeding the machine, but also helps access places that you would never dream of taking a normal machine.

First job I took my 2nd hand chipper too that cost £5k broke down, cost £400 to fix, 2 100 mile round trip to the dealers to deliver and collect and I had to cut all the brash down into the van, took me 3x as long as priced and the chipper was a constant pain, heavy and unproductive!

Chippers make you money, if you are in this game for the long run then you are going to have to take the jump at some time.
