call "NICK" at four seasosn fuel he has been doing it for years using charcoal wood gases form his retors to dry our 26cm3 in 4-5 day from 40% down to 5% at temputures at 85-95 degc results are great. plus makes 750kg of BBQ charcoal as well.. in one sittin two for the price one plus using spent heat which would other wise be wasted...

I use two old greenhouses. The wood I've cut this winter is already bone dry and we've burned some of it in our open fire already. Just need to make sure its well ventilated at first when the initial moisture is coming out the wood but after a couple of weeks you can **** thf door!

Ditto!! I know it is a derail but it's hard to forget a friends very poor experience of them

Just about to get started with having a punt at this. This is what we have:

 

40ft shipping container, insulated on all sides (bar the door and floor) with an average of 6 inches of kingspan.

233kw rated (though not sure it will actually pump this much out) biomass boiler. Pumps out 4 cubic metres of hot air per second, tested and producing hot air at a steady 120 degrees celcius. Burns sawmill offcuts.

20 potato crates of western red cedar firewood, cut to 25cm.

 

I realise that potato crates are a bit crap for drying, but I'll see how it does. If it works well, I'll maybe get some steel crates or IBCs. If it doesn't, I'll sell the constituent bits and write it off as a failed experiment!
