  1. Rectella are paying £1.20 per kg i have been offered "graded" which suits me as i get £5 per 5lt bucket (£1.20 worth of charcoal finnes)+(bucket costings of £0.65) of bio char, which makes up for it. Bio char is the next best thing i can see most charcoal burners making this in the winter as extra production i sell about 3tons per year which brings in an extra money
  2. hi guys just reading what you said about "John's" at treewood retort, why it has a small buckle in the boiler plate is due to a faulty temperature gage, which has been sorted, the max temp for the retort is 600-610degc.But John's was saying 600c but the real temperature was 700c but hasn't got any worse. if you speak to Nick Harris @ four seasons fuel he designs charcoal retorts he working on upright continuous retort, top loader that will produce 1 to 2 ton per it's only on paper at the moment but a US company funding it.
  3. there some on e-bay good rpice
  4. hi Guys call "NICK" at four seasosn fuel he has been doing it for years using charcoal wood gases form his retors to dry our 26cm3 in 4-5 day from 40% down to 5% at temputures at 85-95 degc results are great. plus makes 750kg of BBQ charcoal as well.. in one sittin two for the price one plus using spent heat which would other wise be wasted... look him up
  5. Nick Harris at four seasons fuel he has design a charcoal retort for about 20yrs he designed a charcoal retort with firewood drying system in a 40ft insulated container about 10yrs ago this will dry 20 cm3 of firewood and make 600 kgs + of charcoal with a faction of the running costs in 3-4days using a very good firebox with heat exchanger. all control by the wood gases within the retort. Many of them went to export Sounds a lot better to make 2 products out of one costings. (BBQ charcoal or bio char and kiln dried firewood)
  6. Today i had a meeting with till hill with CPL they are paying £68 per tonne standing, not delivered in (i let you work the maths out) this will make people think about firewood soon it will be cheaper to turn the gas on..!! i have been in firewood industry for 25 years back them i was buy in at £25 per cord "good old days" I brought 2500 tons hardwood for next year i paid £62 delivered In and 1500 tonnes softwood (over sized) at £55 per tonne delivered. i read that some firewood merchants are selling it for £80 1cm3 if they are they are only making less that £10 profit after processing costs. (pending on the costings of they firewood) in the South of England i sell 0.7cm3 £90 1.cm2 £115. i have an Excel costings sheet if any one like a copy so you know your costings. thanks
