size matters here mate, if its only 18" ath the base hen it's firewoodbut if you get a big bit like this http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/milling-forum/88501-monkey-puzzle-timber-sale.html#post1319597 then it's worth milling.

I find that the easiest size of knotty ring to sell for turning is 12" dia Steve so a tree with an 18" base would have me scrambling all over it.

Not quite that size am going to the site now, will photograph and measure if anyone's interested ?

for turning yes that is as big as you'd need it.

 

for milling as has been asked then it would need to be 30"+ before it's worth milling.

It's pushing 30inch at the base and about 15m of good timber
