Rabaud Xylog 420 / 550 Processor

I went for a vertical 25t splitter with a winch for the oversized.

Iam very pleased with it, and it works very well, as a one man operation.

The horizontal Posch looks a good machine

Yes I have a Thor 12.5 magic, which I have been using for logs and billets, but with bigger stuff I find it pretty heavy going, gravity is the problem, I think getting the lumps to waste hight and keeping them there till they are finished is the secret. Time will tell :001_smile:

The billets will go straight on the boiler, once seasoned, that will be mostly pop and softwood.

The stuff that I then put through the posch will go in the kiln and be retailed.

putting billets through a processor is slow and labour intensive i would think that you will soon get fed up of that even if others are doing it you will find that they don't get a lot done no matter how hard they work

Yep billets through a processor is slow work. Rekon it takes longer to make a cube from billets than it does from cord even with the Farmi which is fast on small stuff.

I've got a lot of billets to cut for the coming season and I'm really considering one of the rotary saw type set ups looks about as quick as any thing elsa like the look of the auto cut but only takes a meter. I reckon you could put 2.5 m small cord through a rotary saw

Maybe, but there not really any much better ways of dealing with arb arisings.

We bring home a fair bit of branch wood and smaller trunks that will go straight through the 300, so I recon it will beat ringing it up and splitting.

The fact that we have been paid to remove the wood in the first place rather than buying in, plus RHI on the kiln, means speed is not a huge issue, I'm not looking to do thousands of cubes, just keeping the yard clear and bit of extra income is all I'm after.

For the sake of 60 note you could buy yourself a saw horse that you stack them in and cut 20 3ft billets at the same time. It's the quickest way I've found

But my billets will be of a size that requires splitting after they are cut.

Have you ever tried putting v shaped material through knives it's not pretty any one buying kiln dried will expect a consistently shaped log you will end up with lots of little ones and lots of big ones. I'd break them down on the posh and have the magic at the table and put any oversize through that
