That's it then I am selling my tracked machine and going micro, that's the way forward!!!! Green or Yellow????? If I sell my landy and get a gas powered corsa van, my day rate has just been reduced and profits increased, I like your style Wee Shrek, any big timber will be snapped up like black gold by log hungry eco energy saving freaks!!:001_tt2:

that little sucker earned me over 1500quid last week, but the problem is i used a whopping 8 quids worth of unleaded:001_tt2:, and i used about 10quids worth of fuel in my van aswell:thumbup:and no staff either

I must admit I've only got a 5 inch gravity fed entec chipper, but manage most of the time absolutely fine with it for domestic/small commercial jobs, especially if I can chip straight into a shrub bed - yes I do know about the nitrates before anyone starts. Anything else goes for logs, which you can normally flog nearby.

For bigger jobs I hire equipment anyway, which would be to big most of the time. I have thought about upgrading to a 6inch timberwolf and putting the little entec on a wheelbarrow or similar instead of the trailer it's currently on.

I am a firm believer in the right equipment for the job, unfortunately that is always a compromise. The key is knowing the limitations of each piece of equipment and having a solution for these circumstances.

I am serious, I am getting myself a micro chipper, I do some railway clearance so will keep the tracked machine for now. When I think back there has been hundreds of jobs where a micro chipper would win hands down. I always thought they where a bit Mickey Mouse and be hard work how wrong!!!! Bet a lot of people laughed when micro diggers and dumpers where first used look at them now. bet they out sell there bigger bothers ten fold!!
