I'm going to make a huge sweeping generalization here but in my opinion and experience it stands true.

Facebook(along with other social media sites) is mostly populated with bored unsatisfied people with nothing much else in their life to occupy themselves. By having a facebook site you are making it all too easy for these types of people to contact you 'just because they can'. Much like other sites such as ebay etc, full of time wasters, most of them probably don't even realize they are doing it but then of course there will be the few that do it simply for their own amusement.

:congrats::congrats::congrats:

The internet is a very strange place, just try reading Treesurgeons Banter on Facebook WTF :confused1::confused1::confused1:

Its a huge sweeping generalization that i like:thumbup1: And i might borrow this phrase if you don't mind to re-infoce my point to other people, i can't understand how people can be so infactuated with other poeples lives and mindless gossip that they whittle away hours and hours of their own lives keeping up with this pointless drivvle.

Not a fan of facebook and wouldn't want to use it to advertise in for fear of attracting the types the OP mentioned.

I dont have face book or twitter . I can write a letter , send an email , phone someone or send a pm on here . I dont see why there is a need to go through a third party to comunicate .

Customers are more and more wanting things done too quickly, had a chap call yesterday wanting a leylandii he'd just cut down (and now filling his garden) cleared up today! Err right, give me about 3 weeks till I can get to it or starting ringing around!

What makes it even more laughable is there was no rush for the job to be done!

But our Customer Service is still disgusting as we didn't reply at 3.45 am on Bank Holiday Monday or at lunchtime on Bank Holiday Sunday.

Shame on us!

For us it has definitely proven why we don't do facebook personally, and why we seriously considered whether we wanted to do it for the business!

Reading this thread tonight has made me feel a whole lot better, that in fact, we were pretty polite given the situation! Thanks guys! :thumbup:

Also had some very interesting points been made! :biggrin:
