:dolmar PS-420sc with easy start and its within budget :fight::thumbup:

Yes, but only 42cc, and quite heavy for that size (same saw as the 421 mentioned earlier in the thread) - that's one of the reasons that it matters what size he actually needs.

For all I know, he may even need a 60cc saw....

What exactly defines a 'homeowner's' saw, a 'semi-pro' saw and a 'pro saw?

For me, i understand that some saws are better than others, in more ways than one. But, for me as long as the tool in question does the job that is required of it, then it is good enough for me, regardless of what price tag, name, colour, engine size or fancy things that come with it. People are just too hung up on names, colours, etc imo.

A MS231 ticks the boxes. It has ergo start - which means it stores energy from a few gentle pulls then lets it go when it has enough to start. Great for an elderly gent I'd think. No need to rip your arms off trying to start it. Perhaps a bit over budget, but very light, easy to handle and well well worth it.

Hi

Great if it worked like that!

Just another gadget thing to go wrong that you dont really need, you wont rip your arm off trying to start a 40-50cc saw anyway.
