Disposal of woodchips

I can no longer dump woodchips at a small piece of ground I rented (as I apparently need a Waste Transfer Station License)

I am now paying an average of £70 per ton to get rid of them at various Waste Transfer Sites which I think is crimminal.

I have approached a local council who can do nothing as the Transfer Stations are Privately run.

What do you do with yours?

I know what the Pikies do with theirs........and I'm sorta wondering if I really blame them.

Garden centres, golf courses, parks, cemeteries, schools, landscaping firms, private individuals with large gardens, farmers and riding stables.

Build up a portfolio of places who will take free woodchip, and never miss an opportunity to extol the many uses of chip, as mulch, soil improver, biomass fuel, menage surface, path material, animal bedding and solution to world debt.

Okay, i am kidding on the last one but you get the picture.

I have never paid to tip woodchip, and I have never fly-tipped it either!

Hi we recently had a phone call from a company who buy woodchip for bio fuel the only drawback is you have to fill an artic lorry in one go. Sods law we have a bridge to our yard with a weight restriction:bawling:

If I can find their number I'll get back to you, from memory they we paying £6 per ton

One of our best outlets for woodchips is the local industrial estates on shrub beds between the units.

once you tell the owner if free tipping seems to be unlimited, try it
