I was referring to the principle of hunting and target practice using a weapon of some kind, sorry I should have spelt it out....

sorry i was just taking the pi$$, had a similar kind of conversation with one of my veggie (dont hurt the fluffy animal) friends the other day, (what if the first humans had been vegetarians!)

 

got back to the point debating that really humans developed when we started eating other animals, and thousands of years of evolution cant be wrong!

Get a grip man! what do you want to do ban cars, motorbikes, planes at the same time? they kill far more people in the course of a year than a poxy air rifle, if you don't want a gun don't own one, but for us small time field and target shooters leave us alone to do what we've done for hundreds if not thousands of years!

 

I've got nothing against people who hunt to put food in there plates. And can except the ones that like to hunt occasionally and respect the species and the amount they kill. But do I agree with it? Probably not, because - how can one get any pleasure by killing an animal... I cant, and find it hard to understand people who can. Specially because its so unfair, a defenseless rabbit what chance does it have against a weapon. And these people who love hunting, the thing of being out in the country but refuse to eat a rabbit or whatever they killed, oh the taste is to strong etc...

 

But the thread is about air riffles, you cant realy hunt with a air-gun, can you? The people who own them are usually kids and they only get into trouble with them. Or they hurt each other or are killing little birds or harming cats etc... So its a bloody good idea to ban the things.

 

Now getting at your point! I certainly dont have or want a gun of any kind. What you say about baning cars, planes and all the rest, I would agree if there main use was to kill things but its not...

And finaly I'll leave you in peace its a free country and Im not interfering whether you guys have guns or not! I just agree with the ban.

 

I cant help myself thinking about your avatar - quite ironic dont you think? Ghandi certainly wouldn't aprove the killing of animal in the name of sport, let alone eating it!

The ironic thing was that Ghandi was so against a union with the Muslims, it led to the partition of India and over a million dead. His opinoin does'nt count, and in a thread specifically protesting about this government proposal, neither does yours. No offence intended, but you evidently dont have a clue what your talking about.

Rabbits and other vermin are a severe problem in this country, and if their numbers are not kept down, they start getting infected with mixamatosis - a particularly unpleasant way for mr Bunny to die.

jack have you seen the price of a decent air rifle? your looking at upto £1000+ who would pay that for a gunwhich cant be used to hunt? . i do alot of vermin control on my friends farm, including shooting rats in buildings which imo is far better than laying poison. air rifles can be very accurate and effective weapons in the right hands. im teaching my 12 year old sister to shoot at the moment aswell. only targets though.

I`ve been shooting all my life ive got air rifles,centre fire rifles and even a hand gun.

All these are owned legitimately and used in accordance with the giudelines laid out by the shooting bodies and the law.

The fire arms air guns or baseball bats watever they can get there hands on,the dislodged members of our society will kill maim or torture with any thing they can get there tapped hands on.

People who have a place to use there air guns safely should be left to go about their hobbies without been bullied by the uneducated penpushers.

Its a great sentiment,but unfortunately we live in the real world, I mean you no offence, and wish the world were different.

 

Yep we do live in the real world, whatever that means! The thing is, reality is different for all of us. So real can mean a lot of things. What I'm trying to say is, we humans as a species have common interests and surely one of them is to be able to continue living in peace for many more years to come, in this planet that is our home. For this the last thing we need is guns. Maybe we still not quite ready yet, because some of us are black others are yellow red or white. This shouldn't make a difference because we can mix with each other meaning we are the same. So maybe the solution is there, if we continue mixing together we'll get to a piont where theres no longer different race's, we'll be one big mix, one race. Then maybe we'll realise that after all we have common objectives...
