chain sharpeners

am interested in buying a bench mounted chain sharpener i no oregon do a good one but i saw the price tag and wondered if any body has any good easy sharpeners or should i just save up and buy oregon one

Why not do it by hand pal?? Or you got loads of saws and little time to sharpen??

just cause since i got my husky 3120 with 42inch bar and 30inch just takes me ages to sharpen and often big chains 1 side will b slightly sharper than other side and ive got 5 saws keep sharp just be easier and outcome will be alot sharper if i get one

Fair play mate, Big chains are a right ball ache i must admit.

We've the Oregon one and its fine, but a numpty can make a real mess of your chains!

 

For example, our now ex groundie, who had been using the machine for at least a year decided to grind off most of the depth gauges on at least 5 or 6 of our big chains. We have up to 8 chains for each size saw on the go at any one time and I'm still not sure how many he's knackered..

 

He also decided to put a 30 degree angle on the chain I'd sharpened at 10 degrees for milling (after I told him not to).

 

It is a good tool but it ain't idiot proof!

is it easy enough to set up cause i no some of the grinders ive seen have loads knobs that turn and adjust but never no what they do i havent seen the oregon one only in photos i guess once you get it set up its easy to use
