My 181 is a monster, ridiculous compression so a sod to start, but always does. I run a 28 inch bar. 32 years old.

Mine has had a bit of porting, same big compresson and runs a 24" bar, don't get to use it much but it pulls like a train when I do:thumbup:

Mightn't be the fastest revving saw but always surprises me just how torquey they are. Mine doesn't come out much now (since Spud breathed on my 372) but it does make me smile when it does.

 

Nick, I found there's a knack to starting it and once you've sussed it, it's a doddle. It's been ages since I've had mine out but seem to remember something like pulling it over till it's just before TDC and then giving it one good pull.

I ran a race ported one at races few years ago. So I wanted to pick up a stock one to see how they ran for real.

 

I lost all interest in anything ported and I owned them all ported at one time.
