Day rates?

Recommended Posts

It sounds like your going to do it anyway. Huck as got a point, if your playing the long game then fair play. If you NEED to earn a living from the 'off' it ain't going to work.

Do you live at home with your parents?

I live with my partner who luckily earns good money but I'd like to be able to contribute more, I'm kind of stuck in the need to earn money but don't want to be doing it for nothing kind of situation.

How many trees are you felling a day and what sort of size are they (dbh and height)

Only passed my tickets on Friday but during the course I was putting down a few and the assessors were impressed with my speed.

I guess after a few weeks I'll have a better idea how quickly I can work.

I think you're in for a shock in forestry! Those guys fell n sned with amazing speed! A friend I know tried it n they were out cutting him easily 5 to 1

I agree, in my opinion what a lot of people dont take into consideration is its a matter of fitness and work ethic, you can have someone with all the tickets etc and a beer belly with arms like a sparrow, i know in my mind that 8 out of ten of those type wont make the grade, most of the men who have worked for me over the years have been slim jims about 5'9'' and 11 to 12 stone. Who been brought up to work by their parents, working on a hillside in the midday sun in july day after day wearing all the clobber sweating buckets is not everyone's cup of tea. But we all have start somewhere.
