From my experience im 26 and 2 years ago i stoped renting a rayco rg13 and brought one , started to advertise this side of the buiness. 2 years later im out 2 days a week grinding,when I get to 3/4 days I'll go and spend the big bucks and get a tracked machine .

The grinder goes in the side door of my vIvaro.

We own a charlton 4012, to be honest I don't think that I could get enough work for it just grinding stumps, it's not often that I get people phoning for me to grind out.

If I do I very often don't get the work and I'm not extortionate on my pricing. One other point there is no other machine (other than a road planer!) that gets the abuse of a grinder. Don't let anyone else use it as it will end in some sort of costly repairs or injury.

I made the decision not to hire my equipment out, I just don't think it's worth it, especially on older machines

The more I think about it, the more I think of buying a second hand cheaper machine for a year, see how it goes then maybe upgrade...

Totally agree with this statement, but I have a set price for my regulars (other tree guys) £250 half day and £400 full day leaving mulch onsite

I'm doing what you are thinking of doing..

 

I got a transit van with ramps, cut down the weight alot, using aluminium frame.

I charge 290 for 8 hours of work, thats with a predator 38 rx and myself.

with that 8 hours you get me working non stop without taking a break, and i will do my very best to make sure i do a good job.

 

In that price i take away 150 pounds for diesel for van, teeth, petrol, and putting by money for breakdowns in future.

Stephan that is crazy cheap! You fork out 15000 for a machine to earn a maximum of 140 quid a day?
