Hi All, I have a pump off my Timberwolf 150 VTR that I replaced after believing it to be faulty. Please can anyone recommend a company to re condition the unit? I know there are lots of companys that would do it but if you have had good service I would be interested to hear. Thanks in advance:)

Hello Hodge, maybe try Hydraulic pumps U.K.

In another life I used to service the hydraulic power units for big work class R.O.V.s and we were in Aberdeen, with amount of hydraulic firms in Aberdeen, sending them off to England must have come down to cost. Plus they did a good job.

Call them, tell them the spec of the pump, box it up and a man in a van picks it up. No probs.

Is it a vane/gear pump?

Hope this helps, Rob

The tiddler pump off such a small chipper would normally be a throw away part

Alloy bodied pumps are often cheaper to replace than repair

I did replace it but I'm not convinced it was the cause of the fault. I was hoping to get it checked out. And £600 shouldn't be a throw away part surley??

£600 is a lot for a tiddler of a pump. I would be looking for a better quote

Under normal circumstances a pump wouldn't need replacing

Getting the pump pressure tested is a simple matter

What made you think that the pump was at fault in the first place?

Generally there are three things that would knacker that pump, contamination, cavitation or heat, did any of these things happen?

If you want to send it down sarf I'll have a look at it for you.

There's an awful lot of folk out there advertising that they are 'hydraulic specialists'. When I was doing simple things to alter my 360 excavator some so called 'specialists' came out with bizzare quotes and then couldn't deliver either....grrrrr. It's an easy game to take someones money and £600 seems a huge sum for what you describe!

Seeking second, third and fourth opinions would be my advice before parting with such a sum. Your chipper isn't rocket science!
