Emergency tree work

Can a shattered tree branch that is still attached to the tree, (oak), that is spanning both lanes of a road, not an A or B road, and hung up in branches of opposing trees, be dealt with on the spot without informing highways etc? Can this be treated as a high risk scenario and just be done with a couple of skilled climbers on site and enough decent, road aware ground crew? All hypothetical of course:thumbup1:

Suppose it depends on which LA it is as what happen in herefordshire would not be allowed in Shropshire

I've seen a la crew dropping 2ft by 18 inch straight in to a closed lane today while traffic crossed in the next lane fecking joke

If it's that dangerous the police will close the road. This then gives a sterile environment in which you can safely work without traffic issues.

Yep if it is that bad then ring the police they will shut the road if needed. We have done this before

Somerset. Have looked on their site, but can't find any details. Whilst waiting to contact them and check it out it could come down any time and cause a fatal.

I deal with Somerset Highways a few times and find them good to talk too and very helpful, but as others had said if it's that bad and a minor road get on and do it block the road. Better that than landing on someone!
