Ive heard loads of stories of treework (etc) signs gettin swiped from roadsides etc. even whilst work has been goin on at the site.

i was thinking of combining my own logo with the treework signs so hopefully it will discourage them goin missin (also a little more advertising is always welcome.)

wondering if anyone had already done/thought of this and if so knew of anywhere that does this kind of thing and may be able to help?

Cheers guys

Legally I don't believe you can add or remove anything from the area within the red triangle on a road sign, they have to be identical to the ones shown within the highway code and of specific size for the road you are working on (motorway signs are bigger).

I see no reason why you couldn't put 'Tree work by ...........' under the warning triangle.

I doubt there is any problem with havign an additional sign with company name/logo/number on it as long as its as well as all the other signs. They can't stop you putting a trade sign up or an information board so I see no reason why it cant be like a road sign.

In fact when we did more council street tree contracts they supplied us with an information board with council phone number for queries etc. it was mostly meant for pedestrians though I think cos the text was quite small.

The information board is again a requirment under the street works act . i think that may be the answer tho if you want to advertise whilst using TM make your own info board up making sure that id does comply . as for trade signs , down here in cornwall the council are now taking down any un lawfull signs causing a distraction to traffic this includes all forms of signs , vwhicles for sale etc etc . but i will say that it is all going to far now !!!

bloody eck now i know that obv the signs have gotta be of certain sizes, styles etc but takin down all signs is for sure a bit too far!

i recon from all the comments so far it might be possible to literally take the 'official' triangle signs and add it somehow (complete new reprint?) to a big rectangle with my stuff on one half and the official stuff on the other, that way there shouldnt be any confusion, all the sizes etc can stay the same AND i get some advertising AND it should be less nickable.

ill go down the council offices tom and see what they say!
