Could anyone around Hertfordshire supply me with a couple of ton of nice straight softwood, ideally at least partly seasoned and between 5 and 10 inches diameter? I can collect if it helps? Thanks, William.

Have you tried softwood before? When I made a softwood one it just smoked and smouldered. Made plenty out of ash and they work a treat.

Was it Spruce by any chance Tom?

Larch and Pine seem to work really well, but spruce, even when really dry, seem to smoke quite a bit IME.

William,

I have a heap of seasoned spruce cordwood that i'm processing at the moment, it's bone dry. It's a fair bit away but if you want to come up and take a good bit away i'll do you a fair price. Only 7/8mins off the m1.
