I've used the clip together ones by aus that were fibre glass for stuff near power lines and they were fine you learn how much flex they have and how you can work that to ur advantage.

At work we currently have a silky hayauchi which is good not much flex and a good reach. 6m at longest.

I have AUS clip poles. I bought them to replace the allow screw-together poles.

I've replaced the pruning head with a modified Jameson one which is 10 times better.

If the poles flex too much you can wrap the cord around the poles a couple of times, I find that helps recuce the bending. Never used it with more than 9 of the 4ft poles though so it must have its limits somewhere.

Used to use the AUS rods an awful lot, and apart from cost, wonder why I don't see more people with sets for use in non OHL work.

Back in the day, we used to buy the parott's beak cutter from someone else and modify it to take the loads we used to ask of it! From recollection, I must of had four bags with 30 rods in each..... fact, I wished I still had a set of rods for doing the trees around the wenches place!
