I carnt get my head around this, i know i dont own a granberg sharpener, but surely to have to carry a power pack around to power the thing is surely not worth the hassle. I have a cordless dremel which i sometimes use which doesnt need a power pack. Am i missing something. Does the granberg sharpening stones fit the dremel ?

I carnt get my head around this...

Personally I wouldn't bother taking it out of the workshop. For me it is handy when the chain needs alot of grinding and on the longer chains when milling as well as just getting all the cutters the same length quickly after a dozen or so sharpens with a manual filing kit.(this can be done when I pop back for my lunchbreak) The benefit is the precision of the jig. Using a dremel without some sort of jig would result in a lot of faffing about to get the same results IMO.

Yes they do, and I find the Granberg stones pretty good compared to some others I`ve used.

I`ve also got a cordless for my pocket [ not a dremel ] but the battery life is really short, about one sharpen of a saw with an 18" bar, out of interest how long do you get out of the rechargeable dremel ? cheers.

That`s good to know, I normally just carry a file with me for touch ups but when it comes to the longer ripping chains having more battery life would be useful in a cordless, specially if it`s a bit of a hike from wherever I`m parked, thanks.
