So would the policeman rather be telling the little girl off for riding on the pavement, or telling the parents that their daughter has been killed by a car?

Whatever happened to common sense?

I really despair for the human race sometimes.

I thought it was 14yrs old in the UK but could be wrong

Pet hate is when you have adult cyclists on the pavement who expect you to step onto the road so they can get past.

It's illegal to ride on the pavement, end of.

Laws HA 1835 sect 72 & R(S)A 1984, sect 129

Absolutely. The copper should have spoken with the parent though, not frightened the child. My Dad never let us ride on the pavement; he would not tolerate that kind of stuff. Hard maybe, but I respected him for upholding what he knew to be the law; likewise the Policeman in this case. Personally I do think children under 12 should be allowed to ride on the pavement but the bikes would have to be speed limited; whole other realm that one. My opinion is not above the law though.
