But huck made it very clear that chains don't stretch

New chains do not technically stretch but bed in

Stihl and Oregon do pre stretch there chains but not in loops they basically run them up and down a factory like ununununun

I have seen a photo of this but can't find it

When you get the chain is there loads of adjustment left

If so I would suggest turning your chain oiler up a notch as that will keep it cooler and prevent stretching

Brand new 357XP which was (and still is) oiling fine and I had to adjust the chain after 30 seconds of use. I didn't even get close to finishing cutting one length of timber before the new chain was FUBAR. :001_smile:

Had that on a £69 Chinese saw making bar length cuts (20 inch). I had to adjust at every tank refill. Chain was well worn everywhere so obviously soft material. Never had a problem on my husky and sthil saws. Wonder if your chain missed a hardening process or something

No, it was a fake. Ask Les Cork if you don't believe me. :001_smile:

I have seen Stihl making chain in their plant in Switzerland. From memory they are the only chain manufacterer who make each chain component individually including sharpening the cutters before assembly. All pieces are inspected by human eye, they make about 32 million pieces an hour . We didnt see the stretching process or the cutting into loops but you could easily see why their chain is so good.

We only fit Stihl chains to Husqvarna saws for several major tree surgery companies with no problems
