wood pellet machine

Hydraulic briquette press machines are simpler and cheaper then wood pellet machines but still require very dry timber to compress. If you sell logs then briquettes make a very good alternative product for the same woodstove market whereas pellets are more specialist for an automated pellet burning stove or boiler

I think the briquette press sounds good. I reckon I can get the chip mulch really dry in the polytunnels next door and then bag the briquettes and keep them dry again in them good old polytunnels.

So how's the best person to see about one of these and of course how much are they for a moderate sized set up?

Thanks, Rob

Rob, the feedstock for briquettes is as strict as pellet stock - 12%MC and 6mm particles. You wont get chip that dry in any sort of store, it needs a dryer.

When I get back to the office I'll post some pictures of process equipment for pellets and briquettes.

Just depends how you dry your chip in a polytunnel but you need to be careful as it can spontaneous combust if your drying conveyor is to hot.

Drying in a polytunnel with a conveyor? Unusual.

Here is the plant I was specifying, in this picture it even has a chipper, although my specification did not need that, you would just load wet chip straight out of your transit into the hopper on the right.
