Truck insurance

Is there anyone on this forum who owns a pick-up truck and insures it - fully comp - on a private policy? I'm looking into buying a new Hilux but can't seem to find an insurer. Tried numerous companies that either said they don't insure that type of vehicle or just didn't bother to get back to me. It seems the hang up is insuring a commercial vehicle when it's not going to be used for commercial work

I had the same problem with my van. I'm now with Gladiator (reasonable prices) they are the sister company of Admiral. But it's still a commercial policy seems they won't do it for private!

Try Aviva. Never had a problem whatever way I have wanted a policy with them, s/d & p, or for business. I've just insured a 06 plate short wheel base Transit with them s/d & p.

After this mornings little incident with an L200 meeting my 7.5t Iveco, I'll let you know what Aviva are like when a claim has to be made shortly.

My Nav is fully comp with Elephant at the moment. They cover commuting but can't do full business cover.

I've had two claims off them over the years, one for a motor and another for property damage. Both were smooth easy transactions.

 

Like a knob, I insured a motor that I had given to me a couple of years ago with a company called, cheapshiteinsurance.co.uk.... I won't make that mistake again.

I had a total loss claim with Aviva and they were really good. Paid out quickly and didn't screw me on the amount.
