I got one a while back and it sits just above head height near the fire. When the gas boiler was inspected the plumber said it should be on the landing because the alarm might not wake us up from where it is. I haven't moved it because I think if it was up the stairs you could be in the living room full of carbon monoxide before the alarm alarms. The manufactures guidance also said to place near the likely source of CO. What's others thoughts on this. Or any stove installers know the guidelines please. Thanks

No earthly point in putting a CO detector where it won't detect any CO, it needs to be in the same room as the appliance.

For real piece of mind, if you're worried, use radio or direct linked alarms - then if the CO detector goes off in the living room it will also set off the smoke alarms elsewhere.

I got a Co2 alarm near the gas boiler and a smoke detector near the wood stove . Neither have ever gone off and I have replaced 2x batteries in each . I and my family arte still alive though ....

The guidelines are no more than 3 metres away from the stove, and no lower than a metre from the celing. :001_smile:

Correct, put another one wherever you feel you need one, cant have to many.

Thanks for replies. Sounds like that one is in the right place for the stove. He never mentioned the gas boiler needing a CO alarm but I'll probably get one in that room as well (also downstairs)

Thanks again all
