Is that beachcasting, done a bit myself, got a couple of Abu Garcia reels - CT3000 Purple and the Gren Mag Elite, fine bits of kit although the CT3000 was always the better caster:thumbup:

Mostly beachcasting, yes - but not for herring!

My favourite reel is the 6500 CS Rocket. :thumbup1:

Is that more of a rocks and rough ground reel? Got a Daiwa SL20 for that type of fishing but not been out for a long while....boys and their toys:001_rolleyes::lol:

It mainly is a really nice and long casting reel, With an extremly positive operation. I mostly used it on the coast for 2-4oz lures. I have several others that will do close to the same (all ABU Ambassadeur) - just not quite. The closest one is a 6000C from 1973, and then there are 3 with magnetic casting brakes - all the same size (200m .40mm line).

I am not a total "reel racist" though, and also have Shimano and Daiwa casting reels in different sizes - but you won't find any spinning reels here.

My wife used the same reels, her favourite was the 6600FL (one of the magnetic brake ones). :001_smile:

We may have strayed a little off topic now - but wth!

066 is a brilliant saw.

Ours is a 1998 and still runs a 36" bar no problem at all.

A while ago I thought I would treat it to a set of piston rings, when I opened it up the rings were still within wear limits after over 10 years of abuse!

I would always recommend to buying an 066 if a good one is available

They dont break down and produce plenty of power.
