I'd say more like a grand to fell, clear and take the stump out. looks like a fair lump to me, and the sort of tree you'll find some crap in too.

6 or 7 branches to rig off and then a good chog down, easy day for 3 or a harder day for 2

I think people are well underestimating the size of the tree, and how long it will safely take to rig down, £1600, maybe a little more, and that would not include stump grinding, look at the size of the bins as a comparison for stem diameter and height, 21m ? dont forget those photos are taken some distance away and look slightly down on the tree from an upstairs window , its not a prize in my eyes to see how cheaply the job can be done its how about how well the job can be done, and i see quite a bit of rigging in that job. 2 days

Oh, I'm only playing devils advocate because as soon as people hear of a quote cheaper than them they assume they're cowboys.

Mountain man makes a fair point I think, cheap shouldn't mean cowboy in any trade in my opinion. From the pictures I received my gut instinct was in the area of 1300-1500 but that was only based on the pictures as thats all I have seen also, I wouldn't do it for any less I reckon. It would take me two long days based on my current experience, equipment and manning etc.

2 things, maybe the client is pulling your chain on the "other" price

As someone pointed out its probably full of every conceivable thing that will ruin a few chains..
