just noticed this thread and I wondered if the Dolmar saw is any cheaper than Makita ?

Makita have an offer on at the moment for a 50cc chainsaw in a steel carry case, wondered if Dolmar do the same set up?

 

can't see a lot about Dolmar in the UK but if it's the same saw but cheaper Im thinking of getting one.

 

that price for the makita is a fantastic deal it would be the same saw and they do a metal box but there are'nt any 50cc dolmar chainsaws at that price at the moment the PS-500 is approx £40 dearer

i have never tried the DCS500 or the ps500 they call that model the farmers favourite .what do they cut like and are they well balanced :thumbup:

Spotted two Dolmars in French DIY shop 'Briconautes' yesterday, one was a 350, think it was 345 Euros (£255) the other smaller one was 265 Euros £200.

 

First time Id seen them over here so had to have a looksie, must say they certainly looked good quality.

Yes, I recall the smaller was PS32c certainly looked well made & good price as sometimes the French price at or over RRP!

 

Then they look all surprised when you tell them its cheaper in UK:biggrin:!

 

Think the first saw I used was a Sachs Dolmar many years ago, certainly cut well.

DCS5121 is a pro saw in the same vein as the Stihl farm saws are pro saws. Not lightning fast or light as a feather, but robust, magnesium crankcase, decompression. Meaty and well made, cheap price currently.

 

Yes I do own one. Go for it. You can't go wrong.

 

P.S The Royal Engineers use this and the 64cc Makita.

hello no the dcs 5121 is'nt the proffessoinal one its called the

''farmers favourite''

 

the EA5000P45D is the proffesional saw

 

dolmar PS-500 is the equivallant to the dcs 5121

 

dolmar PS-5105 is the equivallant to the EA5000P45d
