lanyard, need i say more?

 

Errrr yes the lanyard was not a problem tying of the piece to what he was stood on was, not through a pulley simply tied off, the force snapped the rope causing such a violent reaction catapulting him, i think he was lanyard in!

You can see a rigging pulley clearly at 0.08.

The piece(top) did not run.
