Dear Arbtalkers,

At the moment I have a really good Hilux, with a Jensen A540 and a tripper trailer.

What I am looking to do is sell the Hilux and the trailer and buy either a Defender or a tranny with a chip box.

Our work is probably split 50/50 between Urban and Countryside work.

Would a tranny style van cope with towing a 1.5 tonne chipper plus woodchip?

Your advice would be appreciated!

Tom

might add a bit of wear on the clutch/ drive train if its hilly there? Would it struggle reversing the heavy chipper up and into a sloping drive way when empty?

I know our cabstars very light on the back end and I wouldn't even attempt to push our ifor up some of the driveways around here with a bit of weight in it.

That's the what I'm thinking of, but business partners keen on a van. Need some ammunition against him.

I'm concerned that a van wouldn't easily handle heavy chipper and chip!

Good pic Hodge, thanks!
