Brash Chip Ratio.

Done a quick search and came up with not much!!

 

Has anyone tried to quantify a rough guide of chip to brash ratio? Eg how many transit loads of cut down and stomped on brash would be equivalent to one tranny load of chip..........if that makes sense?

I always work on a 4:1 ratio

I always reckoned it was about a 1/5th. A figure that was mentioned when chippers came on the scene.

Thanks chaps got a plan brewing but needs more research into a subject I know little about!

I agree . Or even 10:1

I'm not sure it would be as much as 10:1 but 8:1 sound good. All depends how much stomping and chopping you do.

 

Was just wondering about storing brash then chipping it up after a few months when it's dry and lost its green. Hopefully reducing its moisture content for biomass. Any thoughts??

Sounds like a lot of effort for dry chip! The extra costs in petrol would outweigh any benefit in my opinion!

Totally agree. But with a large tractor and trailer (which I already have) it becomes a little more efficient. But only on the jobs I can get that kind of kit in

I went and chipped some brash for a friend a few weeks ago was 6 good 6 yard skip loads into his yard and filled one to the brim with chip rammed down
