I'm not sure what it costs to fly from the UK to the USA, but if time-off from work can be left out of the equation, once over here, I think someone can do a 5 day vacation in the Coast redwoods on a budget, within 800 pounds / 1300 dollars ... Hope more of you folks get to see these trees. I'd like to see the Baobab myself, and Australia's Eucalyptus forest. And Australia will be the more likely destination if I get around to it someday.

Some winter days are slammed with rain, but this was New Years Day, a year ago, two days out.

About 10 minutes from Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, by Crescent City.

Did you take that image (sky image). If you did then can I suggest that you take it up professionally. That is absolutely fantastic. I'm speechless.

Mario.Fantastic Trees and pics.A road trip there is defianaltley on the cards some time.Is America an expensive place to travel around?

Adam, we're doing another road trip this time round. We found, as long as you stay clear of the bigger centres, travelling is cheap. Way cheaper than staying in hotels in the big cities. Plenty of good road side diners. Eating at restaurants is pricey due to the tipping but get the smaller diners, food carts etc. fuel is also way cheaper than in NZ but best of all; the Americans are polite and helpful and always keen to show off their country and have a yarn. We're already working in the next trip after this one and that's gonna be a cross country road trip.
