This is the last Christmas I'm having; for a decade anyway as I'm officially opting out. When I went into M&S this morning and saw the place was pendemonium with people and trolleys overflowing with choice foods I knew clearly that for me, enough is enough, I'm out of this crazy annual madness. I am soooo looking forward to a normal working day next December 25th / other option is I'm going camping in the wilderness next autumn through to January.

Sorry, to ans op; logs today, tidy the barn.

50% ish agree TCD.

It is beyond madness. A madness of gluttony and consumerism that seems to intensify year on year. The "Black Friday" scenes of chaos, greed and selfishness are about as far from what the season ought to represent as it is possible for western society demonstrate.

I have come to dread the whole thing and the apparent societal pressures that come with it, I am determined that next year things will be different. I want to look forward to Christmas not dread it.

I'm not going to opt out though, I'm going to simplify, condense and reduce. Try and get back to (what I think) the essence of Christmas should be - quite honestly, sitting in the woods with basic shelter, warmth and company and having the clarity to really appreciate the gifts of life are pretty close to my idea of what Christmas could be.

This madness has to be put into perspective!

I guess we should all give a thought for all the people in essential services such as hospitals, ambulances, fire and police service, who work right through this festive season.

Yep, I feel for for those people too, my mum has worked quite a few Xmas looking after the old folks. Also spare a thought for people in hospital especially the kids
