I've just read the Rincewind books and am working my way through the witches books now I sit laughing out loud at some of the things I'm reading, brilliant.

I'm a fan of Neal Stephenson myself, Proper mind-bending stuff and like Pratchett, he's clever and funny.

As an easy in, I would suggest cryptonomicon. Great book, makes your brain work hard and makes you laugh.
