Ive been using a variation of this system for about a month now that works better for me.

I use a lockjack which I extend on a tether.Onto the tail of the rope I attach the "foot ascender and footloop, on the bungee'' which I use on my left leg.But instead of a foot ascender on my right foot,I now use an ascension with a long foot loop.

The advantages are that I get off to a better start because I do not need the weight of the rope to pull through the( formerly required )foot ascender anymore.I also find that having footloops on both feet make climbing wearing spikes more comfortable. As well,Im finding it more comfortable having an ascension to hold onto with both hands.I will post a pic soon.

The Pantin is excellent I use them all the time in my SRT ropework on long pitches its a reall cool bit of kit well worth the 37 quid the vidoes are excellent . sometimes the rope can come out of the Pantin but a small price to pay very easy to re place the rope I rate them at 10 out of 10

Eastwater :001_smile:

Just bob a small biner in the hole behing the grab, stops it opening up enough to let the rope pop out.

ive had same problem with the pantin which isnt modified keeps poping off still practice makes perfect.

This is how i modified my pantin . Take the cam from left hand petzel ascender with the black plastic locking toggle and replace existing cam on the pantin. Why Petzel doesnt bring the pantin out this way???? probably no one has told them ??
