Im more than happy to pay £50 or more extra for a saw at my local dealer, and will always try to use them for spare parts etc..... Register it with Husky, then at any time if it has a warranty claim I can walk in hand it over and its not my problem! Use the second saw for a few days until its sorted :001_smile:

I cant imagine having to try and send one away, provide proof of purchase, waiting for it to be returned, long phone calls etc etc.... a ball ache in short for the sake of a few quid use your local dealer!:thumbup1:

That's what I thought, until I went into my local dealer with a saw I'd bought somewhere else.

That shouldnt be an issue if they are a main husky dealer, may be different if they are a sub dealer.

We do warranty repairs on machines not purchased from us which is what Husqvarna ask us to do.

Although I havent been asked to warranty repair an ebay bought from the USA special yet so I reserve the right to refuse that one!:laugh1:

I had really hoped that would be the case with my local dealer. Sadly not.

If you were my local dealer it would most likely be different.

PS. What's the best way to unseize a clutch on a BCS Tracmaster? Easiest to take the engine off?

If a BCS has a seized cone clutch then we remove engine and after slackening grub screws on crank, slide clutch off. Try and remove fork arrangement from bearing at front but be carefull its quite delicate. If not carry on with fork in place. Place clutch in large vice and carefully clamp up to squeeze it and if it doesnt "pop" straight away leave overnight under tension. Tighten a bit more in morning. If this fails , tap with hammer several times and last resort is soak clutch for 24 hours in a bucket of red diesel. To prevent it resticking, always park with clutch in locked up disengaged position and do not pressure wash and the leave unused. When you reassemble then you need to make sure fork on bearing lines up with clutch engagement lever.

I use my local dealer, he pretty much price matches, but if I am paying a little over the top at least I know help is at hand nearby if I get an issue, cheapest is not always best in most things.

I'm not obsessed by price, but by a good local service & backup, a wise thing learnt the hard way.

I'm the same, price attracted me to Fr jones. I now get their prices matched and occasionally bettered. I'm also on first name terms with the local suppliers, get a cup of tea when I go into the shop and as I'm a pro user my repairs bypass the domestic clients. For Husqvarna I'd only use green stripe just outside of market Rasen and Torne Valley in Tickhill South of Doncaster for Stihl. The service is so much better.
